Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) is the term used to describe all types of abuse, neglect, and other potentially traumatic experiences that occur to people under the age of 18. Household Challenges, such as substance abuse in the household, mental illness in the household or having an incarcerated household member are considered ACEs.
The Youth Thrive program offers Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to children and their families, impacted by incarceration. This type of treatment can resolve a broad array of emotional and behavioral difficulties associated with single, multiple and complex trauma experiences. This service is provided at no cost to families.
Eligibility Requirements
Children and Families must complete an intake and meet the clinical criteria for the program. The Therapist and program staff will work with families to begin services as soon as possible. If program staff feel a different type of therapy or another program better suits the child and family, a referral for those services will be made.
